Sometimes, you hear about people aiming to get closer to God. However, it’s essential to understand that God doesn’t merely desire spiritual proximity; He wants people to be with Him. Being close is not sufficient; His desire is for a profound and intimate connection.

The one far away will die by pestilence, the one close by will fall by the sword, and whoever is left and has escaped these will die by famine. I will fully vent my rage against them.  Then you will know that I am the Lord when their dead lie among their idols around their altars, on every high hill and on all the mountaintops, under every green tree and every leafy oak—the places where they have offered fragrant incense to all their idols. ( Ezekiel 6 verses 12-13)

This is a stark message about divine judgment and the outcomes for those who have deviated from worshipping the Lord. This aligns with the concept of God desiring more than mere spiritual closeness — He desires our presence. The severity of consequences for distancing oneself from God is emphasized in the verses.

God seeks a genuine connection, and the repercussions are significant for those who stray from that profound relationship.

Some time you hear about people getting closer. Well God doesn’t want people spiritually closer to him. HE WANTS THEM WITH HIM. Close just ain’t good enough.
